Mentor
The support and advice that experienced practitioners offer as mentors will help develop and strengthen the next generation of advocates. Opt-in as a mentor on your Member Profile page and you will appear on our new, members-only on-line mentoring portal. Volunteer for local mentoring events. Encourage a junior in your firm to get involved with our Young Advocates’ Standing Committee or with a Practice Group, or by writing for Keeping Tabs. Write
Share your expertise, interests and insight with your fellow members by contributing to our publications and blogs. Whether your inclination is to write a substantive advocacy piece for The Advocates’ Journal, a blog for your Practice Group or an article for one of our newsletters (Advocacy Matters and Keeping Tabs), we welcome your submissions.

Whether you have weeks, months or years to commit, we offer a number of ways for members of all vintages to take on leadership roles.
Practice Groups
We have 16 Practice Groups that host a variety of social and substantive programs throughout the year. Practice Group membership is included in your membership. All members are welcome and encouraged to participate. Young Advocates’ Standing Committee (YASC)
The Young Advocates’ Standing Committee (for members under 10 years of call) represents the voice of young advocates in the Society. Members of YASC participate in the Standing Committees and Task Forces of the Board, host events and produce Keeping Tabs, our newsletter for young advocates. 10+ Standing Committee
The 10+ Standing Committee is comprised of advocates who have been in practice for about 10 to 17 years. 10+ fosters networking and engagement among mid-career members to build and engage members during this phase of their careers and seeks to develop opportunities for the participation of mid-career members in the Society. The Board of Directors
Our active and dedicated Board is comprised of leaders of the bar from across Canada. The Standing Committees and Task Forces of the Board are the forces behind everything the Society does to further its mandate – from CPD to advocacy to mentoring to collegiality. If you are a senior member of the bar, and a member of The Advocates' Society, who is interested in making a commitment to the Society, express your interest in serving on the Board of Directors here.
