Atlantic Regional Advisory Committee

Welcome to TAS Atlantic Canada!

"TAS offers so much more than its excellent CLE. From promoting diversity, inclusion and equality to defending judicial independence, it is a beacon for the entire Canadian justice system."
- - The Hon. J. Michael MacDonald, former Chief Justice of Nova Scotia

TAS is committed to the growth of our advocacy community in Atlantic Canada. We could not do what we do without the incredible efforts of our Atlantic Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) who are dedicated to serving Atlantic litigators with advocacy and justice sector efforts, exceptional advocacy CLE and collegial events for the bench and bar.

Our Atlantic reps sit on various TAS Committees, including the Board, the National Standing Committee, the Young Advocates' Standing Committee and 10+ Standing Committee, as well as various special task forces. We couldn't do it without you!

Signature Advocacy CLE
TAS members always enjoy reduced pricing on our major symposia, including the Atlantic Symposium, Women in Litigation and Fall Forum, our national biennial conference for young advocates. We also offer a rotating curriculum of core advocacy skills programs, where participants can learn-by-doing.

Information on TAS advocacy programs can be found here.

Atlantic Excellence in Mentoring Award
The Atlantic Excellence in Mentoring Award honours an advocate who has shown outstanding commitment to and excellence in mentoring other advocates in Atlantic Canada. The inaugural presentation took place in 2020.

For more information on the award click here.

Atlantic Socials & Celebrations
Our Atlantic members love to get social at annual events like our Cure for the February Blues for the bench & bar. The Advocates' Society was also honoured to host over 500 members of the profession at the Retirement Dinner for Chief Justice Michael MacDonald & Chief Justice Joseph Kennedy in April 2019 in Halifax.

Young Advocates and 10+
Our Young Advocates' and 10+ Standing Committees run a variety of collegial events for advocates in their early to mid-years of practice, keeping our members connected with their peers. From Pub Nights to Mentoring Dinners and Fireside Chats with leaders of the bar, our local Committees work hard to keep new lawyers connected and learning.

Information on all TAS collegial events can be found here.

Practice Specific Programs & Events
Members can connect with the bench and bar in their practice area through our Practice Groups that offer Society members the chance to participate in practice-specific forums alongside their peers.

Learn more about Practice Groups here.
