2017-2018 will be my sixth year on YASC, and my third and final term on the Executive. In that time I’ve served as Vice-Chair, Secretary, Co-Chaired both the Wine & Cheese with the Bench and Mentoring Dinners, sat on the Civil Trials and Motions Wait Times Task Forces, as well as various other YASC working groups and initiatives. As Chair, I look forward to focusing on how YASC can better speak for all Young Advocates.

Profile
Ben’s practice is a mix of civil, administrative and criminal law. After receiving his J.D. in 2010, Ben clerked for the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Toronto. While in law school, Ben served as Executive Editor of the Journal of International Law and International Relations and was co-founding editor of the Rights Review newsletter. He summered at Kirkland & Ellis in New York City and the Burma Lawyers Council in Mae Sot, Thailand. Prior to attending law school, Ben helped launch Billiter Partners, a consultancy focused on strategic risk and corporate intelligence based in London, UK. He has also worked as a journalist in Dakar, Senegal. Ben has appeared as a guest lecturer on the topics of judicial review and international criminal law at, respectively, Carleton University and the University of Toronto. Ben is a member of The Advocates Society, the Toronto Lawyers’ Association and the Canadian and Ontario Bar Associations.
