Privacy and cybersecurity issues arise in all legal practices. Civil litigators handle massive amounts of sensitive data and must be aware of the evolving state of statutory and common law privacy rights. Data security is also critical to risk management: counsel must be alert to privacy obligations when sharing evidence with experts, witnesses and clients, seeking sealing orders, and safely using technology to manage file information.
Join regulators and privacy lawyers for this program to get up to speed on data protection and cybersecurity, as well as recent case law relating to data theft, privacy breaches, access to information appeals and their potential impact on your practice.
You Will:
- Hear about advocacy before the Regulators
- Catch up on class action trends
- Learn about the privacy impact of technology-assisted practice and how to avoid invasive business practice claims
- Familiarize yourself with new, internet-based torts
- Gain an understanding of confidentiality issues, such as sealing orders and publication bans
Registration includes educational materials, which will be provided prior to the program. Registration also includes access to the live webcast recording for 30 days from the date the link is sent to you.
*Due to current concerns with COVID-19, we will be offering this program fully remotely via webcast only.
