Algorithms are used to identify patterns and make predictions, and are appealing since they can crunch volumes of information and quickly perform complex computations. However, algorithms are not necessarily objective and don’t always make decisions that are fair.
Our keynote will address the concept of algorithmic bias and the factors that contribute to it, and will make recommendations about how this bias can be addressed to ensure fairness as we adopt more algorithms in the justice system.
